"Ino" Wins Among Farr 280s at Cowes Week

COWES, U.K. — James Neville’s “Ino” took overall victory among the Farr 280s at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, the largest class event in the U.K., yet. Racing was tight throughout the week, with Nick and Annie Haigh’s “So Steamy” following in second place, just one point behind.
Annie Haigh, co-owner of “So Steamy,” said, “With the other 280’s it’s been really close, it’s been great; all four taking turns in the lead and good battles.”
Matthew Sheahan from Yachting World magazine, sailed on Joe Woods' “Red” for one day of racing. "Our day quickly turned into a match race against Richard Rankin’s ‘Pandemonium’ as we traded positions for over three hours and were rarely separated by more than three boats lengths,” he wrote. “What one made up for in boat speed and shifts the other gained through tactics and boat handling. It was racing just as it should be, intense and absorbing for all of the crew.”
The class continues to develop in the U.K. – targeting its own class start at the next edition of Cowes Week. The next class event will be the Royal Dartmouth Regatta, August 27 thru 29.
